In the mountainous regions of central Mexico, indigenous Otami artisans perpetuate a traditional process of hand-made paper making started nearly 3000 years ago. Using the bark of the Amate, Nettle and Mulberry trees, this artisanal process involves washing, boiling, bleaching, coloring and pounding to produce the Amate paper.
Due to the handmade nature of the paper and the use of bark, each piece of acid- free Amate paper is unique with slight variations in color, thickness, color and shape. The variegated textural surface of this paper complement the detailed photographic studies printed in the studio of Dennis and Roy Barloga. It hangs beautifully without formal framing but presents a sophisticated look when framed more formally. This combination of paper and image- titled and hand signed- results in a distinctive, one of a kind artwork for your enjoyment.
Size 15.5" x 23.5"
