Description
Old Hickory Carpenter Pencils arrive in a convenient set of 12, perfect for stocking your desk, studio, or creative workspace. Unlike your typical round pencil, a carpenter pencil is rectangular (usually ¼ inch x ½ inch x 7 inches). This shape isn't just for looks—it's practical. The flat sides make it easy to grip and prevent the pencil from rolling off slanted surfaces, which is a lifesaver when you're working on a roof or uneven ground. One side has red lead and the other your classic lead.

I am a pencil enthusiast, and have most of H&Cs collections. All are excellent quality, with the white golf being my aesthetic favorite. These are a close second. One side is red, the other standard lead. I did not realize that until they arrived, and I was delighted!
These would be a thoughtful gift for Father's Day, useful in the garage or great for small children to easily hold while coloring or writing. (Use a utility knife to whittle the tip, or buy a special sharpener.)
Linda, thank you so much for this wonderful review! We love that the two-tone lead was a happy surprise. You clearly know your pencils, and we are honored to be part of your collection. Happy early Father's Day to whoever is lucky enough to receive these!
